In the gay porn universe, there is so much diversity that capturing it in a short film program is impossible. Making a selection that accurately represents that universe is also not feasible, since the creative and perverse drive of the filmmakers is unstoppable. As we write this text, some gay porn is certainly being filmed or starting its circulation in the pornosphere. More and more people are contributing new ideas, narratives and aesthetics to this field; delivering productions which challenge the bodies typically found in gay porn, offering us a different type of sex on screen, as well as other practices and representations.

Therefore, creating a gay porn program is a political decision. It confronts us with questions like what do we want to show, what would we like to help circulate, and how all this relates to a vision we build of faggot sex? Who is the audience for these images and what desire motivates them? Do we want to repeat more of the same? In order to shake-off these ideas, we want to deviate from the predictable scenes we find when searching this category on open-access online porn platforms. We want to bet on other repertoires that have less visibility and in which lies the ability to open our imagination, our inspiration, and perhaps our hunger.

Born in Chile in 2021 and already with exhibitions in Mexico and Spain, the independent film cycle “This is (not) gay porn” returns for its European tour, offering a window to independent productions that represent a deviation from the more widely circulated and accessible gay porn. For the first time we arrive to Poland as part of the Post Porn Arts Fest, with a selection of 9 short films from 8 countries, ranging from fiction, video art, experimental and documentary cinema; with humor, music, fantasy, manifestos, autobiographies and—of course—loads of sex.

This is a gay porn program, but also it is not. You will decide after taking a seat and letting yourself be seduced by the screen.
